I lead a small team and write mostly backend code. For the last five years that has meant hospitality technology: the tools and integrations that sit between hotels and the systems they run on, most of which were never designed to talk to each other.
What I care about is fairly unglamorous. Software that does the job, integrations that fail loudly instead of quietly, and a production environment nobody has to think about on a Sunday.
Lately I spend a lot of my spare time with language models — Kimi, Sol, Opus, Fable — mostly to see how differently they reason about the same problem, and partly because they make it cheap to turn a half-formed idea into something I can actually use. A few of those ideas got out:
